Dr Shinjini Bhatnagar

Dr. Bhatnagar is an Indian paediatric gastroenterologist. She is a Professor of Eminence, and the head of Pediatric Biology Centre at the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), India where she works on exploring poor intake of oral vaccines in developing countries, extent of celiac disease in the country, among other works. She was notably elected as a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences in 2007, Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences in 2016, and Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy in 2017.
Her previous work with All India Medical Institute (AIIMS) led to the development of a dietary algorithm for treatment of persistent diarrhoea and the introduction of low osmolarity oral rehydration salts solution and zinc in treatment of diarrhoea. The work done uses a multi-disciplinary research that bridge classical epidemiology with modern science to find solutions for diseases that have major public health significance in the country.
