Dr Soumya Swaminathan

Dr. Soumya is currently the Chairperson of M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF). She is a well-known pediatrician and clinical scientist, known best for her research on tuberculosis and HIV. Dr. Swaminathan Swaminathan received an M.B.B.S. from the Armed Forces Medical College in Pune. She has an M.D. in paediatrics from All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. She is a Diplomate of National Board from National Board of Examinations. As part of her training, from 1987 to 1989 Swaminathan completed a post-doctoral medical fellowship in neonatology and paediatric pulmonology at the Children's Hospital Los Angeles at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
Her career spans a wide experience across Tuffts University School of Medicine, National Institute for Research in Tuberculosis, UNICEF/UNDP/World Bank/WHO, Indian Council for Medical Research, and Department of Health Research (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare). In 2019, she became the chief scientist with the World Health Organization and which she completed in 2022.
