Maumil is a researcher from Kashmir, and her primary interest lies in Visual and Material Memory. Maumil holds a Bachelor's in Literature from the University of Delhi, and a Master’s in Literature from Jamia Millia Islamia. She also studied for a post-graduate diploma in Conflict Transformation and Peace Building at the Lady Shri Ram College for Women. Maumil is an alum of the International Writing Program's Summer Institute hosted by the University of Iowa. She was also a fellow at the LedBy foundation, cohort of 2021, and her present research, which is sponsored by the Australian National University, in collaboration with the University of York, locates material as sites for protest in Kashmir.
